George Bate, MS, GStat

George Bate, MS, GStat is a clinical psychology PhD student who joined the Family Service Center as a Clinical Mental Health Extern in August 2023. He completed his MS in clinical psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in May 2021 and is due to complete his PhD in 2025. George has experience in conducting psychotherapy and assessments in school, V.A., academic medical center, and private practice settings. He is trained in using various evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. These and other treatments have been used to help patients with a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, insomnia, intimate partner violence, substance use, grief, and adjustment concerns. George believes in a warm approach to therapy involving collaborating with patients to arrive upon treatment goals and developing plans to reduce symptoms that are both evidence-based and tailored specifically to a given patient.

Jennifer Bott, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who joined FSC as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern in July 2022. She graduated from National Louis University in June 2023 with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Jennifer previously taught Junior High and Preschool in public and private domains. She is co-founder of the Forward4Tobi Foundation, where she connects with metastatic breast cancer patients by providing peer-to-peer support and assisting them in applying for financial grants. Having been in helping professional settings for the last twenty years, Jennifer’s therapy modalities gravitate towards CBT, Solution Based Therapy, and Mindfulness Practice. Jennifer enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults individually and in group settings. She develops a collaborative and supportive environment which leads to healing and transformation.

Karen Cloyd, LCPC

Karen Cloyd, LCPC, is a is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and holds a Master's of Education in Community Counseling from Loyola University Chicago. Karen has 20+ years of experience as an outpatient therapist, and brings with her extensive training and clinical experience working with trauma survivors and providing crisis support. Karen joined FSC as a full-time clinician in 2020, and was promoted to Senior Clinician in 2022. Karen’s practice is grounded in the belief that a secure space - affirming of varying and overlapping identities, promoting of self-empowerment, and conscious of cultural, structural, and societal factors that influence mental health - is a cornerstone for growth and healing. Compassionate and unconventional, Karen collaborates with clients to create a path toward healing that is unique to their strengths, goals, and lived experience. Using an eclectic approach, Karen tends to lean heavily into trauma-informed psychotherapy/trauma theory, mindfulness, expressive and sensorimotor therapies, and attachment theory. Renee Dominguez, PhD and FSC Co-Executive Director

Dr. Dominguez is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and FSC Co-Executive Director who joined the Family Service Center team in 2014 and currently serves as one of its Co-Executive Directors. She has provided mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families for over 20 years. Her early career specialization focused on children and adolescent trauma and involved researching, providing direct clinical care, and teaching. In her role as Co-Executive Director, she works very closely with Chris Northwick to oversee all aspects of FSC operations, while leading clinical services delivery. Additionally, Dr. Dominguez continues to provide counseling services, educational presentations, and crisis support in the community. She also provides trauma-informed, system-level consultation to partnering organizations during times of crisis and thereafter.

Kui Grady, MA, ALMFT

Kui Grady (formerly Kui Millar), MA, ALMFT, is an Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who joined Family Service Center in 2022. She earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Wheaton College, IL in 2016. Kui has experience working in community mental health, various religious organizations, and a refugee transitional home. She utilizes systematic approaches in helping clients manage distress, identify unhealthy relationship patterns, unlearn harmful behaviors, and bring restoration by accessing internal and external resources. She also explores multicultural frameworks with respect to ethnic diversity in the greater society. Kui believes in creating a safe and affirming environment for her clients in order to foster a collaborative relationship that leads to healing, positive change and empowerment.

Beth Irwin, MA, LPC

Beth Irwin, MA, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who joined Family Service Center in 2013. She earned her teaching certification from the University of Iowa and her Master of counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. She brings nearly twenty years of professional experience supporting individual and systemic growth within the community, working across numerous educational and mental health-related settings. Beth specializes in assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, and has counseled individuals from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of presenting issues, such as: adjustment issues, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. She has a psychodynamic approach, though experienced in several methods which focus on strengthening the therapeutic relationship and helping clients self-actualize and meet the goals that they set out to achieve. She also greatly enjoys providing education and resources to help parents be a positive source of support to their family.

Alyssa Jaquelyn, MA, LPC, CBIT

Alyssa Jaquelyn, MA, LPC, CBIT, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who joined the team at Family Service Center in 2022. Upon earning her Master of Counseling at National Louis University in 2004, she began working at Therapy Through the Arts in Evanston, engaging therapies that involve art, drama, and writing. Her collaboration with children, adolescents, and teens continued at Childserv in Chicago, Metropolitan Family Services in Evanston, and The Eating Recovery Center in Northbrook. She is one of the few certified CBIT (Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics) practitioners in the nation. In addition, Ms. Jaquelyn counsels young adults, adults, families, and groups who are attending to issues such as parenting struggles, relational difficulties, life transitions, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression and other mood disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, and grief and loss. Her therapeutic process is eclectic, incorporating humanistic, client-centered, CBT, DBT, problem-solving, creative, and mindful approaches. She is a true believer that there is always hope for healing and attaining one’s own sense of life satisfaction.

Ms. Koplow earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration in 1997. Throughout her career, she has specialized in working with children, adolescents and families, first as a therapist with at-risk youth, and then in broader-based community mental health agencies. Ms. Koplow understands that every person seeking help brings their own unique background and perspective when entering a therapeutic relationship. She believes in building a connection and foundation of trust in order to discover the honest and meaningful path forward for each client. Munkhzul Mandakh "Zola", MA, is a Clinical Counselor who joined the Family Service Center in October 2023. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis on trauma, from Moody Theological Seminary. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Social Work Studies and Linguistics. She had experience working in various educational and mental health-related settings before joining FSC. Zola is bilingual in Mongolian–English and primarily focuses on providing mental health care for Mongolian community. She provides individual and family counseling, mental health educational programs, and safety and risk assessments to Mongolian families.

Rich Moorman, LCSW

Rich Moorman, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Family Service Center in 2022. He earned his Master’s of Social Work from Aurora University in 2008. He has 15 years of experience providing individual, group, and family therapy services. He believes that the relationship with the client is the single most important factor in therapy. He is fluent in Spanish, and he specializes in providing bilingual therapy services to Spanish-speaking children, families, and adults. Rich has worked extensively with children and adults of all ages in a variety of settings, including domestic violence shelters, public schools, community mental health centers, and residential programs. Rich also enjoys providing clinical supervision to new staff members and supervising graduate student clinical interns. He has extensive experience providing supportive, strengths-based administrative and clinical supervision.

Debby Padzensky, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Family Service Center in 2023. Debby earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. Professionally, Debby has been practicing in the public school system as a Spanish speaking social worker for over 25 years providing individual and group therapy to children, family support, and crisis management. She has extensive knowledge of school systems and has worked with children with a variety of social and emotional issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, attention difficulties, and socialization. One of the essential pieces of her practice is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment. Debby works from a client-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness approach to assist her clients in increasing self-awareness, identifying and expressing emotions, and developing goals and coping skills that foster healthier relationships.

Ms. Priest is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Family Service Center in 2014. In 1985 she earned a Master of Clinical Social Work degree from The University of Chicago - School of Social Service Administration. In 1990 she earned a Master of Theological Studies from McCormick Theological Seminary. In 2012 she became a Mental Health Fellow of The American Association of Pastoral Counselors. Ms. Priest has enjoyed practicing in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Laurie D. Roston, MA, LCSW

Laurie Roston, LSCW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker ,who joined Family Service Center in 1988 and has over 40 years of experience working with children adolescents, & currently with adults and older adults. Laurie earned her Master of Arts in Social Work from The University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration in 1975 with a focus on Family, Individuals, & Groups. She has had extensive training in families and how our generations affect who we are now. By seeing individuals, we find alternatives to current problematic situations that may be automatic instead of more thoughtful solutions. Interactive is the stance rather than one person being labeled as the problematic one.

Alan Trachtenberg, LCSW

Alan Trachtenberg, MSW, LCSW, CAGCS is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist designation. Alan joined Family Service Center in 2023. He utilizes Person Centered and Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) with a Strengths Based approach supplemented by Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as the overall basis of his work. Alan’s employee interactions as a corporate manager inspired him to make a career shift and earn an MSW degree at Loyola University Chicago in 2012. Alan brings a warm, compassionate and collaborative style developed through work with homeless and/or at-risk veterans in a VA funded veterans housing program, grief/ loss and end-of-life care counseling for patients and families in hospice settings, as well as individual work with adults navigating issues ranging from life/career transitions, depression, anxiety, significant relationships, self-esteem and domestic violence. Alan has considerable experience working with older adults and, since returning to practice after a pandemic-related hiatus, has also enjoyed working with the challenges presented to younger adult clientele. Alan’s goal as a therapist is to promote positive change in his clients’ lives by using a collaborative approach and implementing tools that resonate most with each individual. Yaniz Bio

Ralph Yaniz MA, LCPC

Ralph Yaniz, MA, LCPC is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who joined FSC in 2023. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago. Ralph joined FSC with more than 25 years of experience, having worked in outpatient community mental health and inpatient treatment facilities, and having worked with people struggling with addiction issues. The bulk of his work has been in community mental health where he focused on individuals, couples and families, and where he served as a program director of clinical outpatient services and as a supervisor of housing programs. Ralph is also bilingual (native Spanish speaker) and has worked extensively with the Latino community. Ralph believes in working with clients to create a safe environment and primarily uses a strengths-based approach to mental health treatment.
